Acting Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Ken Hyatt today announced that international visitors spent nearly $20.6 billion on travel to, and tourism-related activities within, the United States in June 2016, a slight decrease when compared to June 2015.

Tourism employs America, in fact, the travel and tourism industry supports more than one million jobs in local communities across our country, Hyatt said. Today’s data shows that international visitors spent, on average, $686 million a day experiencing the United States in June. Total year-to-date spending bring us to the hallway point of the 2021spending goal of $250 billion dollars President Obama set in his National Tourism Strategy.
